Importing multiple devices from CSV file

You can add multiple devices to the system without needing to add them one by one. Device details are passed in a CSV file that is typically exported from another system or created in an application like Microsoft Excel.

Here is an example of a CSV file.

The file must contain the following columns:

• Device ID - This field is required.
• Device Type - Use full device type name, this field is required.
• Friendly Name - This field is required.
• Assigned User Email - Email address when you want to assign a device to an existing user. Leave the field empty when device shouldn't be assigned to a user.
• Description - Optional field, can be empty.
• Phone Number - Optional field that applies to certain device types only, can be empty.
• SIM Card Number - Optional field that applies to certain device types only, can be empty.
• Group Name - Optional field that sets the group to which the device will belong
• Secondary Device ID - Optional field that sets the device's secondary ID - used most commonly for dual-mode satellite / GSM devices
• Tags - Optional field for specifying device tags in the format "name1=value1;name2=value2;name3=value3"

To import the devices

1. Click "Options"
2. Click "Tenants"
3. Choose the tenant you want to use
4. Click "Import Devices from CSV"
5. Click "Select CSV file" and choose your file

The system will then validate the data, this can take a while depending on number of records in your CSV file.

If there are any errors in the data, a validation message is displayed for every record. You will need to fix the issues in your CSV file and try the import again.

When validation passes successfully you can review the devices. If all values are correct, the devices can be imported by clicking the "Import" button.
