Managing Address Books

There are two types of Address Books:

Both Address Books are used to manage Contacts and Distribution Lists. For some device types these may be synced to the device and used when composing messages. In addition, the Address Book is used when configuring Event Notifications. The Address Book is normally configured by the device user and the Global Address Book by an Administrator.

Adding a Contact to the Address Book

  1. Click "Devices"
  2. Click on the device for which you want to create the contact
  3. Click "Configure"
  4. Click "Address Book"
  5. Click "+"
  6. Click "Add Contact"
  7. Enter a name for the Contact in the "Contact Name" text box
  8. Add a detail for the Contact, typically an email address or a mobile phone number.
  9. More details can be added by clicking the "Add Detail" link
  10. Click "OK"

Adding a Distribution List to the Address Book

  1. Click "Devices"
  2. Click on the device for which you want to create the contact
  3. Click "Configure"
  4. Click "Address Book"
  5. Click the "Distribution List" tab
  6. Click "+"
  7. Click "Add Distribution List"
  8. Enter a name for the Distribution List in the "List Name" text box
  9. Add a detail for the Distribution List, typically an email address, a mobile phone number or a Contact.
  10. More details can be added by clicking the "Add Detail" link
  11. Click "OK"

Adding a Contact to the Global Address Book

  1. Click "Options"
  2. Click "Global Address Book"
  3. Click "+"
  4. Enter a name for the Contact in the "Contact Name" text box
  5. Choose the Tenant in which the Contact will reside from the "Tenant" drop-down list
  6. Select if the Contact should be synced to devices that support synchronization of Contacts
  7. Select if the Contact should be used as an Escalation Contact
  8. Add a detail for the contact, typically an email address or a mobile phone number.
  9. More details can be added by clicking the "Add Detail" link
  10. Click "OK"

Add a Distribution List to the Global Address Book

  1. Click "Options"
  2. Click "Global Address Book"
  3. Click the "Distribution List" tab
  4. Click "+"
  5. Choose the Tenant in which the Distribution List will reside from the "Tenant" drop-down list and click OK
  6. Enter a name for the Distribution List in the "List Name" text box
  7. Select if the Distribution Lust should be synced to devices that support synchronization of Distribution Lists
  8. Add a detail for the Distribution List, typically an email address, a mobile phone number or a Contact.
  9. More details can be added by clicking the "Add Detail" link
  10. Click "OK"

Copying Address Book Entries Between Devices

You can also copy Address Book entries between devices. Please note this only applies to device Address Books and not the Global Address Book.

  1. Click "Devices"
  2. Click on the device to which you wish to copy the address book entries
  3. Click "Configure"
  4. Click "Address Book"
  5. Click "+"
  6. Click "Copy From Another Device"
  7. Click select a device whose address book you wish to copy from the "Copy From Device" drop-down list
  8. Select which contacts and distribution lists to copy from the other device
  9. Click "OK"

Escalation Contacts

If a Contact is selected to be an Escalation Contact the details of that contact will be included in any Event Notifications you have configured when your device enters emergency mode.
